Why a Pediatric Dentist?

People frequently ask why they should take their children to a pediatric dentist rather than a general dentist.  Although general dentists are qualified to treat children, pediatric dentists have two to three years of additional training in the care of children and limit their practice solely to the care of infants, kids, teens and adolescents.  In this way, they dedicate their careers to children and are well equipped to treat simple and complex pediatric dental problems.

Pediatric dentists are specialists and can be thought of as the pediatricians of dentistry.  At Rochester Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Kelly is board-certified in pediatric dentistry, meaning that she successfully completed both the written and oral examinations set forth by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD).
